The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild changed how fans viewed what was possible in open-world games. The level of freedom in the world of Hyrule was great, so it was only a matter of time before other developers tried to replicate the magic. The idea of running, jumping, and more importantly, climbing and gliding through an open world made a genre that became a bit stale in recent years spark with new life. Immortals Fenyx Rising looks to do just that, but with the main character wielding godly weapons and items to help them traverse the Island. Combat in Immortals is faster than Zelda, and instead of just a glider, your custom Greek hero has a full set of wings. You still have to manage a stamina meter though so there is still some sort of strategy for exploration. The game is coming out on December 3rd, 2020 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X (and S), PC, Google Stadia, and the Switch.

 

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake 1c1t1o

Another big announcement was the reveal of the full remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Sands of Time looks fairly outdated. But, Sands of Time’s parkour platforming and sword fighting has not been seen for a long time so hopefully, the gameplay can make up for it. Prince of Persia later went on to inspire the Assassin’s Creed games, and with how many of those games have come out by now, it was about time for the Prince to come back in some form. This remake also features the original Prince of Persia, as in the 1989 Apple II game, will also be playable from the main menu. It is great to see classic games be preserved for the modern age, even if it might be a bit tough to play nowadays.
