Jimmy Johnson was a solid, but not spectacular, competitor when he was racing in the Busch Series. When he moved up to the NEXTEL Cup in 2002, he shocked everybody with his 15th place finish at the ultra-competitive Daytona 500. From that point on, Johnson kept history to be in the top five, in each of his first five seasons. Johnson made history in 2006 by being the only driver to win the Allstate 400, the Daytona 500 and the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Championship all in the same year.
